Splitting colonies and introducing new local queens is an excellent management technique and should be used to maintain vigour in every apiary. 

Requeen in summer to increase your overwintering success.

Queens must be picked up on the day of arrival or the next day to optimise survival and avoid forfeiture of the non-refundable livestock purchase.
