Our imported queens have been carefully selected over time to bring you bees that best suit our Canadian climate. With honey production and hygienic qualities at the top of our mind, we bring you queens that will thrive in our environment. While good honey production is one quality we seek out in all of our bees, a lot of our selections are best known for their great ability to overcome moments of climate imbalance (cold returns or periods of drought), maintaining an excellent balance between bees, stocks, and brood.
Some more traits that we expect from our queens are a high level of hygiene, capable of overwintering our harsh winters, and a good spring recovery. We aim to bring you bees that have a low tendency to swarm and rob, a gentle demeanor that has been selected for increased varroa tolerance and resistance to brood diseases.
Imported Queens can be picked up in Winnipeg when they arrive, or shortly after we return to Dufresne.

What Is a Package of Bees?
A package of bees is exactly what it sounds like: a measured amount of loose bees, typically 2–3 lbs (about 8,000–10,000 bees), plus a mated queen in a cage.
Packages contain:
Because packages have no comb or brood, they must be installed immediately into an empty hive with drawn comb and resources and fed consistently while they build comb and establish the colony.
