AgroGene Solutions Test Kit

A new, innovative way to test the health of your colony!

Located in Moncton, AgroGene Solutions’ mission is to prevent beehive losses by providing honeybee health monitoring services. They focus on the development of monitoring tools to evaluate the health status of honeybees and any potential pathogenic infections that may present a risk to the hive’s survival.

The Lab Technology:

1. Sample Type: Their sampling techniques are non-invasive, rapid, and precise. They require a swab of the hive and a sample of 5-10 bees, which will then be subjected to testing in their laboratory. Sampling material is provided with all tests.
2. Comprehensive results: Reports are simple, clear, and easy to understand, helping beekeepers manage their hives. The reports include detailed information on pathogen levels in your hives and the health of your bees.
3. PCR-based assay: Based on the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) amplification of genetic material found inside the beehive. They measure honeybee genes that are markers of stress, immune competence, and energy reserves. They also detect and quantify the presence of various pathogens inside the hive. All of their experiments include relative controls to rule out false positives. Moreover, their technology has been tested for sensibility and reproducibility.
4. Fast, reliable, and secure: Receive results within 72 hours of sample reception. A unique code identifies each sample and can be tracked to your specific hive. Results are sent by email directly to the beekeepers.
